How Can You Reduce Your Utility Bills With Hot Water Systems?

Domestic solar hot water systems even known as solar water heaters are a cost-effective way of getting hot water at your house. These heaters can be operated under any climate and their basic source of energy is sunlight which is renewable and free too. Now, there are two crucial elements of these heaters which are solar panels and storage tanks. These devices control and regulate the constant and regular flow of water.

Hot Water Systems

Passive Hot Water Systems
Passive heating systems are amongst the cheapest systems which use Thermosyphon and Integral Collector for carrying out the heating process. Here, in the Thermosyphon system the water flows across the system as the warm air rises above and the cooler one sinks down. Now, the storage collector placed below captures the warm air so that water can be heated. Though it is a reliable way of heating water, yet the contractors must play attention towards the basic design of the system and install it appropriately inside any house.

Active Hot Water Systems
There are two different types of heating ways used by active solar heaters these are:-
  • Indirect Circulation System: In this system the pumps circulate air across heat transfer fluid via the heat exchanger and heat collectors. It heats the water which automatically flows into your house. This method is best for those areas that fall under freezing temperatures.
  • Direct Circulation Systems: Just as the name suggests, it pumps the water directly to the house from the collectors. Though this is not the best option for freezing temperature, yet it’s good for normal winters and cold seasons too.
Factors to Consider While Installing Hot Water Systems
Before choosing solar water heaters to save on your electricity consumption there are a few factors that you must have in your mind.

  • Location: You must always consider the place where you live. This is important because it will help you in understanding the type of water heaters that you need as per your climatic conditions. For instance, if your place suffers from freezing cold then a passive solar water heater is something that you should use, but if there is normal cold at your place then an active solar water heater is the best option for you.
  • Structural Design of Your House: Understanding the structural design of your house is essential because this will help you in determining whether your house will be able to support the hot water systems or not. Unlike the normal water heaters, solar heaters have additional equipments like solar panels, collectors and holding tanks which should be fixed on the roof of your house.
  • Permission from Local Authorities: While installing solar heaters at your house you should take the required permission from the local authorities of your place like your municipality and society head too. Because for installing a few types of solar water heaters you might have to perform a few modifications outside your house, and if you don’t do this without permission then the authorities can take strict action against you.
  • Appropriate Area to Place the System: The last thing is to find a perfect place for the installation of your solar water heaters. For this you must go with those places which are solar friendly or have great exposure to sunlight so that the heating supplier can get an adequate amount of solar energy and function in an efficient manner.
These are the few factors that can help you in the installation of your water heating system. However, always hire a reliable professional while installing the system so that they can get your work done in a hassle-free manner.
